Art.com Launches Brand Redesign Aimed at Democratizing Art Buying

Radically New Website Launches, Supported by "We Are Art" Brand Campaign

EMERYVILLE, CA (July 9, 2012) — After more than a decade as a successful e-commerce company, Art.com Inc., the world's largest online retailer of wall art, today unveiled the next evolution of the Art.com brand — a radically new website designed to offer easy access to the world's largest selection of handpicked art images. The new Art.com website is filled with original content featuring art and design inspiration, curated collections by designers and tastemakers, social and sharing features, and great, new tools to help people find the art they love so they can love their space more.

"Two years ago we set out on a mission to alleviate the risk and anxiety most people feel when buying art and forever change the way art is experienced and consumed," said Geoffroy Martin, CEO of Art.com Inc. "From the moment shoppers browse our new site to the day their art is delivered and hung on their walls, we have one goal in mind: to surprise and delight every step of the way. I'm proud to say that the new Art.com does just that."

Whether shoppers know exactly what they want or are looking for guidance and inspiration, the new Art.com website offers content and tools to help shoppers find the perfect piece of art.

  • Get Inspired: Browse curated collections from Inspiring Insiders. From well-known interior designers like Charles de Lisle and Susanna Salk, creative innovators like Yosi Sergant and Tank Magazine editor Caroline Issa, these tastemakers share their favorite works of art and offer guidance on how to choose the perfect piece of art to decorate any space. Additionally, Inspiring Spaces showcase handpicked art that reflects current design trends for every aesthetic — from Runway Florals and Modern Man Caves to Modern Rustic and Wanderlust Morocco, among others.
  • YOU+ART: This personalized destination allows users to collect and share art they love. Art lovers can create a gallery for every mood, room or style, see picks on the wall before they buy, as well as follow and be followed by other trendsetters from Art.com's ever-growing art community.
  • New Shop Page: For those who know exactly what they want, the site allows them to simply browse the more than 1.5 million art images available on Art.com by artist, subject or collection.

To bring the new brand to life, Art.com enlisted the help of award-winning creative agency Mekanism. The resulting TV campaign, entitled "We Are Art," is based on the insight that when you hang a piece of art, its impact isn't limited to just the space between the frames, rather it has the power to fill the room, change the mood, and to affect everyone in it. The spot takes people on a 30-second journey through the looking glass, based on five famous works of art. The "We Are Art" campaign will be supported with print and digital advertising, as well as social media and an influential blogger network.
