Art.com 'Sparks Learning' through the Power of Art

Online Wall Art Leader Stimulates Art Education through Artwork Donation and Contest

EMERYVILLE, CA (March 25, 2013)—Continuing its ongoing commitment to art education, Art.com, the world's leading online destination dedicated to experiencing and buying art, is giving three schools in need 24 artworks each as part of the Company's Art Sparks Learning campaign. In addition, Art.com is inviting the public to vote for its favorite school through April 18 at www.art.com/artsparks. The school with the most votes will receive $1,000 in art supplies from BLICK Art Materials.

"By sharing the power of art with children, teachers and parents through Art Sparks Learning, we hope to inspire today’s youth to become the artists of tomorrow," said Geoffroy Martin, CEO of Art.com. "Art.com is pleased to share our passion for art with these three special schools, and we encourage their communities to help them vie for a grand prize that will fuel their students’ creativity, imagination and desire to learn."

Based on the success of its first Art Sparks Learning campaign, launched in November 2012, Art.com has once again selected three schools to each select 24 artworks based on each school’s commitment to art education. Brookland Junior School in London, England, believes art positively influences pupils and is excited to surround and inspire children with artworks; Gladys Poet-Christian Elementary School in Tracy, Calif., uses art to teach students about the world, spark discussions and enhance students’ understanding of cultural diversity; and Woods Cross Elementary School near Salt Lake City, Utah, believes art is a great way for students to express themselves, work through their emotions, and be better learners.

“We’re dedicated to creating an environment through the arts that fosters our students’ passions and encourages them to think out of the box,” said Ranae Bennett, Fourth Grade Teacher at Woods Cross Elementary School. “Thanks to Art.com’s generosity, we have a tremendous opportunity to provide our students with artworks that will further enhance their learning, appreciation of art and understanding of the world.”
