Art.com Reignites 'Art Sparks Learning' Program

Leading Online Art Retailer Encourages Public to Nominate Schools in Support of Art Education

EMERYVILLE, CALIF. (Feb. 4, 2014)—Art.com, the world’s leading online destination dedicated to experiencing and buying art, today opened nominations for its next Art Sparks Learning™ campaign, an international program committed to supporting art education and inspiring the artists of tomorrow. Visit www.art.com/artsparks to nominate a public school in need for a chance to win framed artwork and $1,000 in art supplies.

This nomination period marks the fourth iteration of Art Sparks Learning, which has granted over 300 artworks to 15 deserving schools in the U.S. and the U.K. since its launch in 2012. Accordingly, this nomination period also marks the first time the program will be held in France, highlighting the importance of art education around the world.

“The power of art education is undeniable,” said Geoffroy Martin, CEO of Art.com. “Art Sparks Learning provides us with an opportunity to encourage creativity amongst students both in and out of the classroom. We invite parents, educators, and art lovers to help us identify schools in need that could benefit from this program.”

To nominate a school in the U.S., interested parties must include the school’s name, address, contact information, and reason for nomination. The nomination period will remain open through February 28, 2014. Art.com will review all nominations and select three finalist schools. The U.S. finalists will be announced in late April and will be awarded 18 pieces of framed art from Art.com to inspire creativity in their classrooms. Art.com will then hold an online competition between the three finalists, and the school with the most votes from the public will also receive $1,000 worth of art supplies.

As part of the previous Art Sparks Learning campaign, Art.com awarded Milanesi Elementary School in Buena, N.J. with $1,000 worth of art supplies from BLICK Art Materials after receiving the most votes from Art.com visitors.

“We are thrilled to have these beautiful prints hanging up throughout our school,” said Milanesi Principal Anna Bettini. “They are warm and inviting and place smiles on all of those who see them. We thank Art.com for all they do to encourage the power of art within our children.”
