Art.com Selects School Finalists in Global “Art Sparks Learning” Program
Leading Online Art Retailer Invites Public to Vote for Grand Prize Winner, Continuing Mission to Inspire the Artists of Tomorrow
EMERYVILLE, Calif. (Sept 23, 2014) — Art.com, the world’s leading online destination dedicated to experiencing and buying art, today announced the schools nominated for its fall Art Sparks Learning ™ program dedicated to supporting art education and inspiring the artists of tomorrow.
As part of this global initiative, six additional finalists from the U.K. and France have been selected to receive artwork from Art.com, offering students all over the world a chance to learn about and be inspired by art. Since its inception in 2012, Art Sparks Learning has donated more than 300 artworks to schools throughout the U.S., U.K. and France. This is the fifth iteration of the program.
“Art.com believes art in education is essential. We are delighted to continue our ongoing commitment to provide access to art in schools,” said Geoffroy Martin, CEO of Art.com. “Our Art Sparks Learning program is designed to spark creativity in classrooms and help students develop life-long skills such as self-expression, perseverance, focus and collaboration.”
Earlier this year, the public was invited to nominate a school in their community to be part of the fourth Art Sparks Learning campaign. The three U.S. finalists are:
- Kepler Neighborhood School; Fresno, California: This public charter school exists to inspire students to find passion and joy in learning and become caring members of their community. The new inspirational artworks they chose from Art.com will help motivate students to develop their creative skills and discover the artist within.
- P.S. 126 Jacob August Riis; New York, New York: Located in the heart of Chinatown, this school is dedicated to ensuring its students have rich and exciting learning experiences through strong academic, sports, music and arts programs. The curated collection from Art.com will be displayed with students’ artwork throughout the school to inspire creativity and encourage them to express themselves.
- Marlboro Elementary; Louisville, Ohio: Art.com’s donated pieces will introduce students to art and integrate it into the school’s programs to activate and enhance right-brain activity.
From now until Oct. 17, 2014, people may vote for their favorite school among the finalists to win the grand prize by visiting www.art.com/artsparks. The winning school will be announced on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014. For ongoing updates on the Art Sparks Learning campaign, follow #ArtSparks on Twitter.
