Art.com, Inc. Grows Leadership Team with Two New Hires
New Executives Round Out Top-Tier Team and Accelerate Progress on Company Vision
EMERYVILLE, Calif. (July 11, 2017)—Art.com, the world’s leading online destination for wall art and home décor, has hired Christine Fernandez as its Chief Experience Officer and Quintin Mikell as Senior Vice President of Operations, bringing the company’s total number of senior-level hires to seven in the past nine months. The expansion and transformation of the corporate team reinforces Art.com’s vision to dramatically simplify self-expression and to make art accessible to all.
"I’m delighted to bring on Christine and Quintin. Christine’s deep product design chops, especially in mobile, will play an important role in making our experience easier and more delightful for our customers," said CEO Kira Wampler. "And, Quintin’s extensive consumer operations experience will further strengthen our company’s position as we accelerate our growth."
In her new role, Fernandez will lead the design and product management teams and oversee Art.com’s customer experience initiatives. In her 20-year career, Fernandez has focused on creating products and experiences that delight users and exceed business expectations. Most recently, she was Uber’s Head of Design for the Rider Experience, Global Partnerships, Developer Platform and Uber for Business teams, driving Uber's core consumer experience. While at Uber, Christine grew the design team to over 25 people, established 10+ program teams, and founded product design in Uber's Seattle office. Fernandez’ background includes product strategy and design, service design, communication design, original content creation, branding and identity. Her work has been recognized by the Addy Awards, Clio Awards, One Club, AIGA, IXDA, Adobe, Creativity Magazine, The New York Times, AdAge and Fast Company.
"From a young age, I’ve been passionate about all things art and design. I’m really excited to bring my experience in Product and Customer Experience innovation to revolutionize the way people browse, purchase and experience art – creating a connected experience across digital and physical," said Fernandez.
With over 25 years in global supply chain distribution, Mikell brings a deep knowledge of manufacturing management techniques and implementing new technology solutions to his role as Senior Vice President of Operations at Art.com. Mikell has had a diverse career managing operations, most recently at Cintas/ZEE Medical Inc., where he was responsible for transitioning ZEE Medical Operations into Cintas Corporation after a company acquisition. Prior to ZEE Medical, Quintin held key leadership roles on several consumer operations teams, including Sony.
"I look forward to applying my interactive cooperative leadership style to my new role," said Mikell. "I’m eager to work with the Art.com team to deliver operational excellence and unparalleled value to the customer while building on the dynamic strengths and successes of the company."
Both new hires are very active in their local communities. Fernandez is known as a thought leader on women and minorities working in technology, and has participated in a number of panels on the subject, in addition to leading creative strategy and ideation workshops. Mikell has served as a youth volunteer football and basketball coach, as well as on various community non-profit boards, including Youth as Resources.
